SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD

Prof. Dr. Johan A. den Boer
has been a professor of biological psychiatry since 1996. Most of his research is a combination of clinical and preclinical research in the field of anxiety and depression. He has published in clinical, psychiatric, neuroscientific as well as preclinical scientific journals.
He is a distinguished fellow of the International Society of Affective Disorders (ISAD), and was president of the Interdisciplinary Society of Biological Psychiatry from 1992-1997. He is a member of several international scientific organisations and of several editorial boards.

Prof. Ido P. Kema
Ido P. Kema is Professor of Clinical Chemistry at the University Medical Centre Groningen (UMCG), The Netherlands. He is a member of the Board of the Department of Laboratory Medicine, and Head of Clinical Chemistry. Dr. Kema got his PhD degree at the State University in Groningen. His thesis was about Clinical Chemistry of Serotonin and Catecholamines with contributions to carcinoid tumors, phaechromocytoma, and Parkinsons’ disease. Dr. Kema’s main interest is in the field of neuro-endocrinology, oncology and biological psychiatry. In the area of analytical chemistry his focus is on mass spectrometric chromatographic methods, notably XLC-MS/MS for analysis of a.o. biogenic amines, and steroids. He has published over hundred papers in the field of Clinical Chemistry.

Prof. Dr. P. Luiten
Head of the department neurobiology at the university of Groningen and has been professor in the field on neurobiology for more than 15 years. He was the chairman of the scientific advisory board of the Dutch institute for Brain Research (NIBR). Most of his research is in the field of brain research & the nervous system. More than 235 publications are mentioning his name and he has secured many research grants and financial support from the pharmaceutical industry. He is a member of several international scientific organisations and of several editorial boards.

Prof. Bruce HR Wolffenbuttel, MD PhD
Since August 2002, Bruce Wolffenbuttel has been Professor of Endocrinology and Metabolism and Head of the Department of Endocrinology at the University Medical Center Groningen in The Netherlands. He is also the Scientific Director of the LifeLines Cohort Study, a large population-based study examining gene-gene and gene-environment interactions in the development of chronic multifactorial diseases including diabetes, cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases. Other interests include the pathology, imaging and treatment of especially adrenal, thyroid and pituitary tumours, and their effects on quality of life of patients. He also has a large outpatient clinic for rare (congenital) metabolic diseases.
